How extraction works
The image is sampled and its pixels clustered, so the result reflects the colors that occupy the most area rather than the ones that catch your eye. A small vivid highlight often will not appear even though it is the first thing you notice.
Photographs with a clear subject and uncluttered background give the most usable palettes. Busy images average out toward muddy mid-tones.

- Why does the palette miss the color I wanted?
- Extraction ranks colors by how much of the image they cover, not by how much they stand out. To grab a specific spot, use the image color picker instead and click the exact pixel.
- What image formats are supported?
- Anything your browser can decode, which covers JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and usually AVIF.
